Read retirement reception is Tuesday
June 13, 2016

A longtime Keene Realtor is closing his doors.
John William Read is retiring and closed Read-Billingsley Real Estate June 11. His sister, Betty Ann Price, who has been an integral part of the business for several decades is also retiring.
John has been involved with the community in Keene from the time he became the choir director for Southwestern Junior Collage for the 1962-1963 school year. His mother, Ella McCoy Read Billingsley served as his broker of record when John began helping friends and neighbors with their real estate needs in the late 1960s.
The Sleepy Read paintings that have been displayed at the Read-Billingsley office at 300 S. Old Betsy Road will continue to be available from Sleepy’s Highway 67 Gallery “Ci La Vie”, or from his downtown Cleburne studio in the Wright Plaza.
John’s three sons, John Clayton Read, William Campion Read and David Christian Read will be managing any legacy issues arising from the closure of Read-Billingsley Real Estate. They will also manage the office space going forward.
Friends of John and Betty Ann are invited for an informal retirement party at the Old Betsy office from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19. Light refreshments will be provided.
