Keene Chamber of Commerce
Small Town Connection

As a chamber member, you can take advantage of myriad ways to connect with other chamber members and the community and get a big bang of advertising for a small amount of buck.

Monthly Membership Luncheon

The monthly luncheon, held the last Thursday of each month except November and December, meets at the new Keene Community Center, 1000 N. Old Betsy Road. The Community Center is on the south end of the new Keene Municipal Complex that also includes all city offices, city court and the City Council chambers.

Luncheon reservations can be made at the chamber office. The luncheon is open to anyone who wants to attend. The lunch and presentation are $15 for those who RSVP and $18 for unreserved walkups.

Chamber members can sponsor a monthly luncheon for $200. A sponsor receives five minutes at the beginning of the program to promote and tell about your business. You may also bring items to place on tables. Call the chamber office at 817-556-2995 if you would like to sponsor.

The December luncheon meets on the second Thursday. There is no luncheon in November.

For $750 a chamber member may sponsor the luncheon meal. All fees collected that day will go towards special projects of the chamber such as the U.S. flag program, the annual Fourth of July Parade, the annual Christmas Light Parade and Fireworks Show, and gifts for children of needy families at Christmas. You will receive special recognition in printed and electronic media available to the chamber, as well as at the luncheon.

Business Expo

The 17th annual Business Expo, Health Fair and Job Fair will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, at the Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium on the campus of Southwestern Adventist University. Presented by the Keene Business Development Corporation and the Keene Economic Development Corporation, known as the Type A and Type B boards, the event is a business expo, health fair and job fair as we team up with the Southwestern's School of Nursing to provide health screenings and the Texas WorkForce to provide a job search information.

There is entertainment by local music groups, seminars by professionals, and activities for children including bounce houses and balloon animals. There is also a food court and numerous door prizes.

The 16th event, held Feb. 24, 2019, sold out with 54 vendors.

This event will provide a great way to showcase your business to our community. Booth spaces can be reserved by calling the Keene chamber office at 817-556-2995.

Fourth of July Parade

The parade begins at 9 a.m. on July 4, unless otherwise announced. Entrance is free and it's another way you can advertise your business by providing an entry.

Annual Membership Banquet

The 26th annual Keene Chamber of Commerce banquet will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the new Keene Community Center, 1000 N. Old Betsy Road. The banquet recognizes achievement in business, education and citizenship through the presentation of seven awards: Community Improvement Award; Community Service Award; Pioneer Award; Young Entrepreneur Award; Phillip Sparks Helping Hands Award; eight Educator of the Year awards and Citizen of the Year Award.

The banquet also features quality Christian entertainment. In 2015, comedian/songwriter Aaron Wilburn made his third appearance at the banquet. Previous guests have included Taylor Mason, Jeff Allen and Dr. Dennis Swanberg. In 2016, Christian comedian Tim Lovelace was our guest, and in 2017 we were blessed by the singing of Allison Durham Speer. Last year, a improv comedy group from the Plaza Theatre Company, The ImPLAZAbles, was our guest.

Our guest for this year has been confirmed and will be announced at our 26th birthday luncheon in July.

All members and anyone interested in the business of Keene is invited to attend. Businesses may purchase tables of 6 and provide their own unique centerpiece. Lots of great door prizes are given away by area businesses each year. Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event.

Christmas Light Contest

Prizes are given for the best Christmas light display in Keene in three categories, residential, business exterior and business interior. You can enter yourself or nominate someone at the chamber office by mid-December each year.

The winners are received yard-sign recognition and are honored at the January membership luncheon.

Christmas Light Parade and Fireworks

Scheduled for 6:30 p.m on the Sunday that falls 10 days after Thanksgiving, the Christmas Light Parade features anything that rolls or walks as long as it is lighted. The parade entry fee is two packages of dog food that is donated to the Keene Animal Shelter.

After the parade, the chamber-sponsored fireworks at Callicott Student Park can be enjoyed by spectators and participants. Once again, this is another way you can share your business name with the community through a parade entry or fireworks sponsorship.
